On the afternoon of October 15, on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the establishment of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (October 15, 1956 - October 15, 2022), a signing ceremony was held with some big Vietnamese enterprises such as PetroVietnam PVN, Vietnam Electricity (EVN), PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL), FPT Corporation, Hanoi Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Joint Stock Corporation (Habeco), Panasonic Vietnam, Vietchem, and HD Telecom.
At the ceremony, the HUST Alumni Network was also launched in Japan with 267 members and at PVFCCo with 56 members. Assoc. Huynh Quyet Thang, President of HUST, emphasized that the ceremony is an important mark to open the new school year to promote more effective cooperation between the University and Industry. With these cooperations, students have got more opportunities for long-term internships at big enterprises with an international working environment, and the HUST Alumni network continues to connect more members all over the world.
Opening the ceremony was the cooperation announcement between HUST and The School of Engineering, University of Tokyo. Professor Takao Someya, Rector of the School of Engineering - University of Tokyo, expressed his absolute belief in the cooperation between the two sides, "I hope that talented researchers will become a strong bridge to solve challenging problems together.” On October 5, 2022, HUST and the School of Engineering, University of Tokyo signed an Academic Exchange Agreement with the main content of staff exchange, student exchange, joint research, and international lectures and seminars. The University of Tokyo is one of the top public universities in Japan and is ranked 23rd by QS in the 2023 World University Rankings.
HUST also signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), in the field of training, recruitment, and human resource development; Scientific research, technology transfer and digital transformation; Communicating, and Alumni network. In the school year 2021-2022, PVFCCo sponsored equipment for two laboratories of The School of Chemical Engineering with a total value of 2 billion VND. In addition, 4 classrooms D3-402, D3-403, D3-404, D3-405 sponsored by PV Oil (worth 2.2 billion VND), and a classroom sponsored by VietChem (worth 560 million VND) have been completed and put into use in the new school year. On behalf of PetroVietnam (PVN), Mr. Le Xuan Huyen, Deputy General Director of PVN said: “Among 6 members of Director Board, there are 3 HUST alumni. We understand that the responsibility of enterprises is the close companion with the university in training quality human resources for the labor market, promoting research”.
The signing ceremony of the agreement to transfer the digital office system D-Office between EVN and HUST was also held within the framework of the meeting. In 2019, EVN transferred the E-office software to HUST, speeding up the digital transformation roadmap of the University. In 2022, the advanced version of D-Office promises to bring significant and fundamental changes in office administration work at HUST in the near future. Mr. Ngo Son Hai - Deputy General Director of EVN shared: “This is a cooperation between EVN and HUST. I hope both sides will develop more comprehensive cooperation programs.” According to Mr. Ngo Son Hai, at EVN, more than 7,000 staff are alumni of HUST.
HUST also received a fund of VND 2 billion from FPT Corporation to upgrade Tran Dai Nghia Square. This area promises to become a green and useful space for the students’ activities in the near future.
In 2020, FPT Corporation signed a strategic cooperation agreement with HUST. According to Mr. Hoang Nam Tien, Chairman of FPT Telecom's Board of Directors, FPT Corporation currently has about 1500 staff who are alumni of HUST, some of whom are holding leadership positions and key experts.
