About Prof. Hongyi Xu:
Dr. Hongyi Xu joined the University of Connecticut in February 2019 as Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering. His research interests include design of mixed stochasticity systems, deep generative design of microstructure structures for Additive Manufacturing, stochastic microstructure modeling for energy storage systems, and uncertainty quantification. Dr. Xu is serving as associate editors for two international journals, editorial board member for one international journal, and Early Career Special Committee member and Newsletter editor of the International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ISSMO). Dr. Xu has received the NSF CAREER Award, multiple Best Paper/Editor’s Choice paper awards from the ASME and the Tire Society, and multiple reviewer’s awards from ASME. Dr. Xu is an invited participant of the National Academy of Engineering EU-US Frontiers of Engineering symposium (60 of the most promising early career engineers from the US and EU were invited).

About the University of Connecticut (UConn):
UConn is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut, USA. It is a flagship state university that ranked 58th in “Best National Universities” in the 2024 U.S. News & World Report.
