Becoming a Youth Ambassador of the World Youth Skills Day (Asia-Pacific) 2022, to play an important role to send the message on the importance of preparing skills for the future to our youth.
Timeline: 7 - 8 July 2022
As a Youth Ambassador, you will have the opportunities to:
- Motivate youth to adopt a lifelong learning attitude towards development of skills for the future
- Help key stakeholders in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to better understand the youth’s aspirations towards skills for the future
- Create platforms for the youth in your organisations to work and interact with youth from other countries
- Leverage on the partnerships and resources forged during WYSD (APAC) to carry out activities you are passionate about
1. Background:
1.1 Designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) is an opportunity for young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions and public and private sector stakeholders to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. Since 2014, WYSD is celebrated every year on 15 July.
1.2 UNESCO-UNEVOC is one of the key actors in promoting WYSD at the global level. Every year, the UNEVOC Network is mobilized to organize activities focused on youth skills development and the UNEVOC TVET Youth Stories campaign highlights the perspectives of young people on skills for the future.
2. Eligibility
- Preferably aged 15 to 24
- In a leadership capacity in an organization (preferably youth organization or a student body in an educational institution) in any Asia-Pacific countries.
- Have a strong interest on issues related to youth and skills
- Strong peer network, highly motivated and proactive
- Outgoing, well-spoken, strong public speaking, communications and interpersonal skills with enthusiasm and passion for advocacy of youth development
- Savvy with a variety of social media platforms with an interest in producing short videos on platforms such as TikTok
3. Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the WYSD (APAC) 2022 organising committee and your organisations to promote and actively participate in WYSD (APAC) 2022 events and activities
- Plan and implement activities with skills for the future related themes for youth of your organisation and youth from other countries
- Respond to call to contribute to the WYSD (APAC) 2022 as a speaker, host or moderator
