From October 30th to November 2nd, 2018, UK – Vietnam Researcher Links workshop with the topic of “Green Electrochemical and Material Processing for Environment and Energy Challenges” was organized in Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

The workshop aimed to create a bridge for cooperation between Vietnam and the UK scientists, to initiate opportunities for young scientists to share, introduce their researches in the fields of Chemical Engineering, Electrochemical Engineering, Materials, etc. to prepare for international  projects, and to coordinate the solutions for urgent issues in terms of environment and energy.

Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son opened the Workshop

Participate in the workshop were scientists from variety world research units of the UK such as Strathclyde University, Newcastle University, Manchester University, Queen Mary London University, Edinburgh University, Bath University, Glasgow University, Portsmouth University, and from Vietnam and representatives of Ministry of Science and Technology.

During the Workshop, 40 scientists from Vietnam and the UK focused in two main issues: Green Electrochemical for Environment and Material Processing for environmental and energy challenges.
At the Opening session, Assoc. Prof. Hoang Minh Son – President of HUST emphasized: The Workshop is a bright opportunity for researchers from the UK and Vietnam to exchange, discuss and follow up with new ideas in material processing and green electrochemical, as well as come up with more suggestions to develop the research orientation for both nation scientists.

said: This workshop is an informational forum, spreading science results; and prepares for international articles and projects. Additionally, the workshop connects scientists from both nations with enterprises, thus establishes more effective innovations.

Also, under the workshop schedule, the scientists visited the beer production line and waste processing at Halong Beer and Beverage Company, Quang Ninh.

The first workshop occurred in 2015, focused on introducing production methods for special materials for environmental challenges. “After the first workshop, there were nine projects between the two countries came into life, numerous technology transferring executed, especially in essential fields of Vietnam such as high-tech agriculture, medical, environmental processing and energy” – shared Prof. Mai Thanh Tung.
