HUST joins with the Ministry of Education and Training to promote higher education cooperation with the UK on Innovation, Digital Transformation, Quality Assurance and Social Impact.
On October 25th, British Council in Vietnam launched a visit and work program in the UK to facilitate high-level cooperation in the field of education between Vietnam and the UK.
With the aim to increase participation and cooperation in higher education between the UK and Vietnam, the visit to the UK opens up opportunities for collaborative activities in teaching and research among universities, as well as student/lecturer exchange, and international training cooperation.
At the beginning of the work trip, an MOU was signed among British Council, the UK–Vietnam Higher Education Network, the Vietnamese Intellectuals Association in the UK and Ireland on development opportunities for Vietnamese young researchers through Researcher Connect program and professional development opportunities.
As the Chair of the UK – Vietnam Higher Education Network, HUST’s President Huynh Quyet Thang affirmed the importance of creating the management and operation capacity of higher education institutions in Vietnam to create a premise for international integration. He also mentioned the necessity of continuing to promote successful international cooperation through research, staff and student exchange and taking advantage of business cooperation opportunities in the region and with the UK.
At the opening ceremony in London, Mr Mark Stephens - British Council’s Global Director of Cultural Engagement, reaffirmed its commitment to engage in cooperation activities with the Ministry of Education and Training and universities in Vietnam to support the internationalization of higher education as part of the MOU on Cooperation in Education, English and Examinations.
Within the framework of the business trip, HUST sign an MOU with Portsmouth University on October 27th, 2022. “We hope this cooperation will impact education in both countries, especially in research and digital transformation to support teaching and learning”, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang confirmed.
HUST has built and successfully implemented many projects with organizations and universities in the UK, such as the Research Frameworks project between HUST and Portsmouth University, Digital Transformation with Open University (UK), ACES project “Community-Centered Education Model for Social Adaptability Development: Fun Learning towards an Inclusive, Safe and Resilient Society” sponsored by the UK Government's Global Challenges Research Fund, the "Leadership and Governance" project phase 1 and 2...
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director General of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training shared: “I believe this visit and work in the UK will improve conditions to promote more effective and successful cooperation programs between the two countries in Vietnam's priority areas, such as digital higher education, innovation, quality assurance, and social impact for sustainable development”.
The Vietnamese delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training and 14 higher education leaders who are Presidents, Vice-Presidents, and Heads/ Deputy Heads of Departments from 6 Vietnamese universities. The delegation visited 7 UK universities in London, Wales, Portsmouth, and Bournemouth and meet more than 50 university representatives and professional organisations across the UK to discuss cooperation opportunities in future from 24-28/10, 2022.
The business trip allows Vietnamese delegates to learn from the experience of UK universities. Besides, the Vietnamese delegates also shared their top priority on teaching and research with the UK counterparts, setting the stage for future university-to-university collaborations.
