An agreement was signed between HUST and BOKU (Austria)

On February 10th, 2020, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and Austria’s University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) had an agreement signing ceremony with a purpose of expanding cooperation in the near future, especially in the biotechnology, food technology and environmental science and technology field.  

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Dinh Van Phong, HUST Vice President, thanked BOKU representatives for the visit at HUST. Believing that HUST–BOKU has been a very strong and special bond, he hoped the two universities can find a stronger common ground for further collaboration after the ceremony.

The 1st agreement between the School of Biotechnology and Food Technology (HUST) and the Institute of Food Technology (BOKU) was signed in 2001. The official HUST–BOKU Agreement was signed in 2005 and re-signed in 2012, with the reach of Agreement in Joint Training Master in the same year. 

HUST and BOKU have close and extensive cooperation

 

During the years of partnership, a number of bilateral and multilateral projects were implemented and accomplished between the two universities. The exchange programs are run successfully as there are approximately 20 Postgraduate and Undergraduate students who were sent to study at both sides. Furthermore, HUST has welcomed teachers and professors from BOKU annually as guest lecturers at HUST in bachelor and master programs.

 

Two parties signed an Agreement 

Mag. Andrea Reithmayer, Vice-Rector for Finances & Campus site Management, was proud to say that BOKU was a leading university for sustainability in Europe and saw itself as an innovation leader in the green economy. After signing the Agreement, HUST’ Vice President looked forward to a bright future of cooperation in the years to come as he whole-heartedly believed “Science for Life” motto of BOKU aligned with HUST’s activities and visions.

  • FP6 project (2008-2011): Monitoring and Quality Assurance in the total food supply chain – MONIQA, HUST as member
  • FP7 project (2011-2013): Safe food for Europe – Food Seg, HUST as member
  • 4 projects in Erasmus Mundus – Key action 2 (2010-2016): EURASIA 1, EURASIA 2, TECHNO 1, TECHNO 2
  • 2 CBHE projects in Erasmus+, Capacity Building in the Higher Education: ASIFOOD (2015-2019), INTENSE (2016-2020);

 

Research Projects:

  • Research EU Project 2003-2005: Enzyme technology for the sustainable production of health-related prebiotic sugars: HUST as one of the 5 partners, BOKU was coordinator 2003-2005
  • Mobility project (2014-2016) for research (under support from OEAD and MOST).
